Having played the piano since age 8, Laura picked up the guitar at 16 and started writing music. After dropping out of art school, she moved out west to the rocky mountains to pursue her music. By the time she decided to move back east to her hometown of Annapolis, MD, she had written over 200 songs. Upon moving home, she recorded and produced her first full length cd in her basement and started playing shows more often. Within a year, she played over 70 gigs, moving up from local coffeehouses, to more esteemed music venues like The Knitting Factory in New York City, and World Cafe Live in Philadelphia. She also started playing at colleges(MICA, University of Richmond, Shippensburg University, Goucher College, Towson University, Bucknell University)

Laura's new EP "Elephant" was released this past year with the help from her bandmates Ken Crawn(drums), Aurelie Shapiro(cello), Geoff Gill(bass) and Sean Jackson (percussion, piano, production). With this full band release, Laura will be playing more shows to promote it.

Often playing solo, Laura's live shows have often been described as "better than the cd" and seem to connect the audience emotionally. Her songs have been described as emotional and heartbreaking but strangely enough set to an upbeat tempo, hers is the type of music you find yourself humming, and find yourself eager to share.
